Thank you for stopping in and viewing our handcrafted, custom made gunning duck decoys. We hope you like them! Our goal is to provide waterfowl hunters with quality, handcrafted decoys. With minimal care, these decoys will provide many years of service. We inspect each decoy throughout the building process and any that do not meet our satisfactions are scrapped. This means that each and every doom decoy you purchase will look and perform great!
Our bodies are molded using expandable polystyrene or EPS beads. Once the body is “skinned” in mastic and tight weave burlap, they are nearly rock solid, yet still lightweight. The bodies are a “suc duc” style decoy, and can be ordered with or without keels, which are made of synthetic wood. Our heads are molded with 8lb two part urethane, and the bills are always reinforced with a 3 inch wood screw. handmade glass eyes are inserted in the heads for a true to life appearance. Our paint choice is UV and fade resistant acrylic, and it is applied using an air brush. All of the heads are painted by hand with small detail brushes with the same paints as mentioned above. Lastly, we seal the decoys with one coat of matte finish spray, for protection.
No one knows your hunting spot better than you do! When you head out to the blind, you are the professional hunter, you run the show, and you know what is best; therefore, we will allow you to choose the decoy packages that you like, a la carte style. Do you like to use a 2 to 1 drake to hen ratio? That is just what you will get from us! 8 drakes and 4 hens. If you purchase 6 black ducks, and you want 4 of them to be sleeper/preeners, that is what you will get. Our heads are in a fixed position, but you can specify any head directions that you prefer. An order of one half dozen decoys may contain up to 2 sleeper/preeners, and an order of one dozen decoys may contain up to 4 sleeper/preeners.
